Libyan Charities and Humanitarian Organisations
The LBBC understands that humanitarian organisations and charitable enterprises are playing a crucial role in securing the ongoing development, future stability and long-term prosperity of Libya and its people.
As the process of reconstruction that Libya is now undertaking gathers pace and the Libyan people strive to establish an effective and enduring democratic society, we are confident that the UK-Libyan business community will support the important work that these charitable organisations are engaged in.
The LBBC and its members are pleased to offer our support to the following organisations: Established in September 2011 by British-Libyans with a deep understanding and affinity for both Libya and the UK, the founding aim of the Libyan Progress Initiative (LPI) is to support the democratic ambitions and efforts of the Libyan People in the post Ghaddafi era. It does this by addressing key themes central to the progress, future stability and prosperity of Libya.
The LPI has begun a series of activities to educate, inform and stimulate debate in Libya on:
Principles and processes of democracy and government Freedom, rights and the rule of law Democracy and justice Politics and business Political parties and how they function The role of civil society organisations The role of women, religious freedoms and inclusion of minorities
You can also follow the LPI on Twitter and Facebook.
NB. The LPI is currently looking for writers and bloggers to contribute material to their website. ___________________________________________________________________________________

Set up following the February 17th uprising, World for Libya is a charity motivated by a long term commitment to humanitarian aid in Libya. The charity was established by Libyans living abroad and non-Libyans, as a response to the humanitarian crisis throughout Libya and on the Tunisian border.
Its aim is to support humanitarian relief both directly, as well as through third party charities. Thanks to its unique ability to mobilise local people throughout the country, World for Libya is able to assess the nature of the aid required and assist in providing the logistics for other charities, whether local or international.
