Since the practice was established in 1961 we have provided integrated design services, on the basis that this provides added value to clients. We take single point responsibility for the design; integrated design optimises resources and solutions, minimises risk in the total process of a project, and releases the client from the task of co-ordinating disparate disciplines.

Our key disciplines are architecture, engineering, urbanism, design, lighting, acoustics and sustainability.
We work across many sectors – retail, urbanism, transport, workplace, healthcare, education, housing, leisure and heritage. Whatever the project, BDP is dedicated to providing a customer focused service.

BDP has over 1200 people in the UK and Ireland, making the practice the largest architect led firm in Europe. Turnover is about £100m per annum. We have recently formed an office in the Netherlands and have a close association with French practice Groupe 6 of Paris and Grenoble, under the name BDP International. BDP works in many European countries as well as Lebanon, Libya, Australia, India and China with local partners when needed.

In Libya, we are very proud to have been appointed by ODAC as architects and engineers for the design of 10 new university campuses on sites at Zuwarah, Surman, Sabratha,Nalut, Gharyan, Sabha, Zintan, Brak, Awbari and Marzuq.

We have won over 500 design awards for our work across many sectors, including awards for work of unique scale and scope.
